Siyuan is an alumnus of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), where he was admitted into the Diploma in Music course at age 17 after less than a year of learning the double bass. He studied under Jacek Mirucki. Upon graduation, Siyuan was accepted into the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in 2017 with a full scholarship, studying under Guennadi Mouzyka, and graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Music (Hons) in Double Bass Performance.
In 2021, Siyuan founded the "Bass Ensemble of the Republic," the first project of its kind in Singapore, which brought bassists together to perform in an ensemble setting. This initiative aimed to build a strong music ecosystem for nurturing double bass talent in Singapore and fostered greater appreciation for double bass music, enriching the local cultural landscape.
