Teacher Gayane graduated from the well-known R. Melikian Music College in 1981 with a Master’s degree in Voice and Piano. It was a highly competitive music college where only 16 students out of 400 were selected each year.
Teacher Gayane was invited to audition as one of the professors at the music college felt that she had a unique voice, with great potential. The rest as they said is history.
After graduation, Teacher Gayane went on to work for A. Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre as a soloist and soprano for 21 years. She also worked at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory as a singer for the piano department.
A remarkable vocalist, Teacher Gayane continues to perform regularly around the region today. One of her most memorable concerts in recent years was when she was invited to perform in Jakarta. Singers from ten countries were invited and Teacher Gayane felt honoured to represent Armenia. Her performance of the aria “Un bel di vedremo” from Puccini’s Madama Butterfly earned her outstanding reviews from the dignitaries in attendance.
In 2011, Teacher Gayane started teaching in Singapore. Many of her students have achieved distinctions and awards from various examination boards and national competitions in Singapore. She uses her own pedagogy that she internalised during her study with various professors in the past to train her current students. Teacher Gayane teaches voice and piano in Asia Music School today.
